Harsh shifts, delays, flare or slipping need a diagnosis that starts with transmission type, fluid condition, fault codes and operating conditions.

Different gearboxes, different issues
Six- and eight-speed units have different service designs and control logic. A generic “RAM transmission fix” is not reliable.
Before authorizing repair
Record whether symptoms occur cold, hot, under load or during a particular shift. Check available software updates and service bulletins by VIN.
Use the correct model-year manual and current service information. Stop if instructions or safety precautions are unclear, and use a qualified technician for work you cannot verify.
