2016 RAM 1500OWNER’S GUIDE

SPECIFICATIONS & OWNERSHIP

2016 RAM 1500 Towing Capacity

There is no single safe towing rating for every 2016 RAM 1500. Engine, transmission, axle ratio, cab, box, 4x2/4x4 equipment and payload all affect the limit.

Check your configuration

Confirm the engine, trim, drivetrain, market and installed equipment before using a part number, capacity or repair procedure.

Your particular truckConfirm cab, box, engine, axle, 4x2/4x4, transmission and VIN

The maximum example is not the rating of a particular Big Horn or Outdoorsman. Use the full manufacturer chart and individual payload label.

Use the factory configuration chart

The Canadian 2016 specifications provide separate ratings by engine and configuration, including 5.7L HEMI six- and eight-speed combinations. Verify the truck’s axle ratio and equipment by VIN.

Payload and tongue weight count

Passengers, accessories and trailer tongue weight consume available payload. Stay within receiver, axle, GVWR and GCWR limits; use the lowest applicable rating.

An example is not your tow rating

The Canadian chart’s highest 5.7L HEMI rating belongs to a properly equipped configuration, not every Big Horn or Outdoorsman. Verify axle ratio, cab and bed, driveline, hitch and actual payload before choosing trailer weight.

Before working on your vehicle

Use the correct model-year manual and current service information. Stop if instructions or safety precautions are unclear, and use a qualified technician for work you cannot verify.
