2016 RAM 1500 Payload & GVWR
The tire-and-loading label on the individual truck is the starting point for payload planning. Published maximum payload is not the available capacity of every equipped vehicle.
Confirm the engine, trim, drivetrain, market and installed equipment before using a part number, capacity or repair procedure.
What subtracts from capacity
Occupants, cargo, aftermarket accessories and trailer tongue weight all use payload. Cab, bed, engine and drivetrain change the available amount.
Do the whole calculation
Check axle ratings as well as GVWR, and weigh the loaded combination when possible. Towing capacity and payload are separate constraints.
Use the correct model-year manual and current service information. Stop if instructions or safety precautions are unclear, and use a qualified technician for work you cannot verify.
