2016 RAM 1500OWNER’S GUIDE

MAINTENANCE & FLUIDS

2016 RAM 1500 Brakes & Brake Fluid

Use the specified brake fluid and approved service procedure. Braking noise or a soft pedal needs inspection rather than an assumed pad replacement.

Check your configuration

Confirm the engine, trim, drivetrain, market and installed equipment before using a part number, capacity or repair procedure.

What to inspect

Check pads, rotors, calipers, hoses, parking-brake hardware and any evidence of fluid leakage. Pulling or vibration can have several causes.

Towing changes the stakes

Repeated heavy braking increases heat. If the pedal sinks, braking effectiveness changes suddenly or a brake warning lamp stays on, stop driving until the problem is assessed.

Before working on your vehicle

Use the correct model-year manual and current service information. Stop if instructions or safety precautions are unclear, and use a qualified technician for work you cannot verify.
